It’s OK If You Ate To Much…

sweetie_small1 I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for, even in these most challenging times.

Did you overeat on Thanksgiving? I did! :-) I didn’t eat so much that I was uncomfortable, just more than normal at 1 sitting. And boy was it yummy! It’s the one day I don’t feel guilty. (Mom, I miss your baked spaghetti). The pecan pie was just incredible.

It’s OK to indulge every so often. If you starve yourself you won’t have energy to exercise, function and be healthy…the opposite being you over eat at every meal. This will stretch your stomach and you will need to eat more and more to feel full. When you have had enough, stop eating. No more thinking you have to eat everything on your plate. Here’s a trick…use a smaller plate. (except on Thanksgiving! lol)

We all get off track, or “fall off the wagon” and it’s OK. Don’t beat yourself up. Just don’t let it linger. With the new year around the corner (yes hard to believe), start thinking about your goals for 2009. What will you do to be healthier?

To Your Health…

I saw your post. You seem to have a healthy attitude regarding food. I wish I could do something about my attitude.

I’ve put on 25 lbs in the past year and 1/2. I just got on the scale today and I’m up 265 lbs. I keep piling on the weight. It’s all stress eating and not enough exercise. I’m also a diabetic and this is really bad for me. Plus I’ve been substituting food for caffeine since I gave up caffeine two weeks ago.

Are you able to keep your weight off?

Talk to you on the other side.

      Steve,

You can do something about your attitude! Have you ever seen the movie “The Secret”? You just have to want to make that change…it’s just a decision.

Stress can hinder you from losing weight and cause you to “hold onto the weight”. I have learned that from personal experience. A lot of my healthy eating came from personal problems and originally my mom suggesting I “work” with her Natureopath. Many years ago I changed my diet and never went back to eating like I used to. It is truly amazing what (bad) food can do to your body. Definitely read as much as you can so you will start to learn more.

From when I was at my most comfortable weight, I did gain, and now I’m back on track to get to that weight…keep reading my blog for updates :-) Once I went on a low-glycemic diet, along with the current supplement I am taking, I have been losing weight. I was also eating bananas, which is a big no-no if you want to lose.

Just take baby steps, and don’t beat yourself up. We all fall off the wagon…look at Oprah! You can do it…exercise several times per week and you will start to feel better, when that happens you will want to eat better…it can be a “vicious” cycle when you are on the other side…

Best of luck! Thanks for reading my blog.

      Debbie
